Have you ever been so inspired by a piece of literature, that you felt inclined to create something yourself?
A novelist, poet, essayist, historian, perhaps, that sparked in you the flame of recognition of the art at work – the living element that remains for all time in any inspired creation?

Have you ever written an essay or prose piece and wanted to translate the notions, ideas or characters into song?

We live in a culture in which much of our current entertainment and art stem from literary inspiration, in the forms of both fiction and non-fiction: musical theatre, film & television, and dance, to name just a few.

Carrying this inspiration forward in the form of songwriting is the focus of this two-hour workshop, in which
both practical literary/character analysis and songwriting techniques will be applied to the process of creation of a new, unique work from the living breath of an existing one. In this way, not only do we examine the insights of other artists, but the diversity of viewpoint, culture, time and place, and experience, culminating in the creation of our own, authentic expression.

Open to all levels of writing experience.

Lunch is included.
